To 5k or to not
Although I have been running for a couple decades I have never entered a 5k. Sometimes I tell myself that I really should push myself beyond my comfort zone and go for it. Then I go for a run like the one I did yesterday and it is so perfect and so personally satisfying I can't imagine changing it. Does everything have to be about growth and expanding out of your comfort zone? I am not anti social by any stretch of the imagination. However I love to just be out on the trail with myself, Boone and something great to listen to coming out of my ear buds. Before Boone came along there was Chin. The vet said he was the most studly in shape pug ever! If you want the best personal trainer to motivate you on the trail get a dog. Running is my time. Its one of the few times I don't feel like I have to be on stage about anything. I don't care what I am wearing or how fast (or mainly slow!) I am going. The goal is just to run, breath and get away from whatever is waiting for me when I finish. I like running in the woods. I feel like a wild animal sometimes. There is ever changing scenery. Just last night I saw a bald eagle circle around down low to the lake. There was a family of ducks on a evening swim and I think they had drawn some attention. Not to worry the eagle decided to look elsewhere for dinner and all is well in Mrs. Ducks world. We have a lot of rabbits in our woods too. Now they are scary to me! Why you ask? They are the one critter that Boone will pull me a half mile down the trail trying to catch. I guess that's his challenge .For now I think my four legged personal trainer and I are satisfied with the way things are going and won't be doing any organized racing anytime soon. I do wish someone would give me a tee shirt though.
